Target Information
Members of the mTERF (mitochondrial transcription termination factor) family are mitochondrial proteins believed to act as transcription termination factors.
MTERFD1 contains three leucine zippers forming a three-stranded coiled-coil that binds DNA and regulates mitochondrial transcription.
Only the phosphorylated form of MTERFD1 is suggested to have transcription termination activity.
A closely related family member, MTERFD3, may be involved in cell cycle regulation and growth through modulation of mitochondrial transcription.
