Target Information
The exosome complex is involved in numerous cellular RNA processing and degradation events.
DIS3 (also known as exosome complex exonuclease RRP44) is a ribonuclease that participates in processing, turnover, and surveillance of various RNA species.
It localizes to both cytoplasm and nucleus, contains one PINc domain, and is widely expressed—most strongly in testis.
DIS3 is essential for processing 7S pre-RNA into a mature nuclear complex and for proper mitotic progression.
Abnormal expression may be associated with colon cancer, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis.
