TSSC4는 11p15.5 유전자 영역의 종양 억제 관련 전이 가능한 조각 중 하나로, 중요한 종양 억제 유전자 영역에 위치합니다. 이 영역의 변형은 Beckwith-Wiedemann 증후군, Wilms 종양, 횡문근육종, 부신피질암, 폐·난소·유방암 등과 관련이 있습니다. 이 유전자는 여러 각인(imprinted) 유전자 사이에 위치하지만 PHEMX와 함께 각인을 회피하는 특징을 가지며, 이 영역과 관련된 악성 질환에 관여할 수 있습니다.
