Target Information
The RBMS2 protein is part of a small family of single-stranded DNA/RNA binding proteins characterized by two ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) containing conserved motifs RNP1 and RNP2. These motifs are required for DNA binding. RBMS proteins are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. RBMS2 was identified by phenotypic complementation of yeast cdc2 and cdc13 mutants and is thought to suppress these mutants by inducing translation of cdc2.
