Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with other core histones, it forms nucleosomes that package and order DNA. Histones play essential roles in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 undergoes various post-translational modifications such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influencing chromatin structure and gene expression.
