Target Information
Aquaporins are a family of water-selective membrane channels. AQP9 belongs to the aquaglyceroporin subset, allowing passage of noncharged solutes and facilitating urea transport and osmotic water permeability. It may also aid glycerol uptake in hepatic tissue and play roles in leukocyte immune responses and bactericidal activity. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
