MA5-14736 detects Ferritin in ELISA, IP, IF, and RIA applications and shows reactivity to human samples.
The immunogen is human liver ferritin, and the detected ferritin has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 19 kDa.
Product MA514736 is a smaller package size of MIF2504 (formerly sold as a Seradyn product).


Target Information

Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It consists of 24 subunits of heavy (H) and light (L) chains, forming a holoenzyme shell of approximately 450 kDa capable of storing up to 4,500 atoms of ferric iron.
Ferritin plays a key role in iron homeostasis by storing iron in a soluble, non-toxic form.
Defects in the light chain ferritin gene are associated with neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome.
The ferritin gene has multiple pseudogenes and is highly conserved across species.
