Target Information
HnRNP A1 belongs to the A/B subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins form complexes with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) and are associated with pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. Although most hnRNPs are localized in the nucleus, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP A1 contains two quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and is one of the most abundant core proteins of hnRNP complexes, primarily localized to the nucleoplasm. It participates in mRNA export and re-import processes.
