Description:
The monoclonal antibody 3C4 (mIC2/4) recognizes mouse CD102 (ICAM-2), a member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily with two extracellular Ig domains. CD102 binds LFA (CD11a/CD18) and Mac-1 (CD11b/CD18), mediating cellular interactions with lymphocytes. It plays a role in NK cytotoxicity, migration, and lymphocyte recirculation. CD102 is expressed on most lymphocytes, monocytes, and platelets.

The 3C4 (mIC2/4) antibody blocks lymphocyte interaction with antigen-presenting cells.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis and functional assays.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.25 µg per test (defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL). Cell count may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.

Use in a sterile environment.

Target Information

ICAM-2 is a member of the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) family. ICAM proteins are type I transmembrane glycoproteins with 2–9 immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains and bind to the leukocyte adhesion LFA-1 protein. ICAM-2 may regulate lymphocyte recirculation by modulating LFA-1-dependent adhesion. It mediates interactions critical for antigen-specific immune responses, NK-cell mediated clearance, and immune surveillance. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
Diseases associated with ICAM2 include colon carcinoma in situ.
