Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. p70 S6 kinase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and is essential in growth factor–regulated cell proliferation, pathways involving cell motility (such as metastasis), immune response, and tissue repair. It acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, targeting the S6 ribosomal protein to upregulate protein synthesis. Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
