Target Information
The CDC6 protein is homologous to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc6, essential for initiating DNA replication. It regulates early DNA replication steps, localizing to the nucleus during G1 phase and translocating to the cytoplasm at the start of S phase. Its movement is controlled by phosphorylation through Cdks, and transcription is regulated by E2F proteins in response to mitogenic signals.
