Target Information
APOL1 is a secreted high-density lipoprotein that binds to apolipoprotein A-I, the major apoprotein of HDL. It plays a role in cholesterol ester formation and promotes cholesterol efflux from cells. This apolipoprotein L family member may contribute to lipid exchange and transport, as well as reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver.
