Target Information
The APOBEC3D gene belongs to the cytidine deaminase gene family. It is part of a cluster on chromosome 22, likely formed by gene duplication. Proteins encoded by this cluster are structurally and functionally related to the C-to-U RNA-editing cytidine deaminase APOBEC1 and can inhibit retroviruses such as HIV by deaminating cytosine residues in nascent retroviral cDNA.
