Target Information
This gene encodes a protein originally thought to be related to the collagenase gene family. It is one of three highly similar genes located on the p arm of chromosome 16, encoding proteins that may share functional roles. The encoded protein is part of a complex involved in the Nodal signaling pathway during vertebrate development. Mutations in the nearby ABCC6 gene, rather than NOMO1, are associated with pseudoxanthoma elasticum.
