Target Information

CDK9 is a serine/threonine kinase that forms an active holoenzyme complex with CyclinT1, playing a key role in regulating the eukaryotic cell cycle. It regulates cytokine-inducible transcription networks by facilitating promoter recognition of target transcription factors and promotes RNA synthesis related to cell growth, differentiation, and viral pathogenesis. The CDK9/cyclin-K complex also has kinase activity toward the CTD of RNAPII and can substitute for CDK9/cyclin-T P-TEFb in vitro. Chronic activation of CDK9 can cause cardiac myocyte enlargement, leading to cardiac hypertrophy and an increased risk of heart failure.
