Target Information
This gene encodes a voltage-gated delayed potassium channel related to the Drosophila Shaker channel. The protein has six transmembrane segments, with the S5–S6 loop forming the pore and containing the conserved selectivity filter motif. The functional channel is a homotetramer.
The N-terminus associates with beta subunits that modify inactivation properties and expression levels, while the C-terminus interacts with a PDZ domain protein responsible for channel targeting.
Mutations in this gene have been associated with myokymia with periodic ataxia.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
