Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein, functioning as ion channels mediating calcium entry into cells.
TRP-PLIK is both an ion channel and a kinase, conducting calcium and monovalent cations to depolarize cells and increase intracellular calcium.
Its kinase activity enables autophosphorylation and phosphorylation of other substrates, which is essential for channel function and dependent on intracellular ATP.
