Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein and function as ion channels mediating capacitative calcium entry.
TRP-PLIK (TRPM7) acts as both an ion channel and a kinase. It conducts calcium and monovalent cations to depolarize cells and increase intracellular calcium. Its kinase activity enables autophosphorylation and phosphorylation of other substrates, essential for channel function and ATP dependence.
