Target Information
TMC6 interacts with zinc transporter 1 (SLC30A1) and localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum, nuclear membrane, and Golgi apparatus.
Inactivation of the TMC6 gene is implicated in epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV), a recessive dermatosis associated with susceptibility to human papillomaviruses (HPVs) and progression to squamous cell carcinoma.
TMC6 encodes integral membrane proteins predicted to form transmembrane channels, with 10 transmembrane domains and 2 leucine zipper motifs.
Diseases associated with TMC6 include Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis and Superficial Mycosis.
