FLT1 (VEGFR1)는 혈관신생(angiogenesis)에 중요한 역할을 하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제입니다. 활성화된 혈관신생은 종양 진행, 당뇨망막병증, 류마티스 관절염, 상처 치유 등 다양한 병리 및 생리적 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. FLT1은 배아 발달 중 과도한 내피세포 증식을 억제하여 혈관신생을 음성 조절하는 데 관여할 수 있습니다. 성체에서는 내피세포 증식, 생존 및 혈관신생을 촉진할 수 있으며, 그 기능은 세포 유형에 따라 다릅니다. VEGFA에 대한 높은 결합 친화도를 가지며, 상대적으로 낮은 단백질 키나아제 활성을 나타내 VEGFA 신호의 음성 조절자로 작용할 수 있습니다.
