Target Information
Glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2) isoform is an integral plasma membrane glycoprotein expressed in the liver, islet beta cells, intestine, and kidney epithelium. It mediates facilitated bidirectional glucose transport and functions as a glucose sensor due to its low affinity for glucose. Mutations in the SLC2A2 gene encoding this protein cause Fanconi-Bickel syndrome.
