Target Information
Autophagy related protein 16L is encoded by the ATG16L gene located on chromosome 2 in humans.
Also known as WD30 or IBD10 (Inflammatory Bowel Disease 10).
ATG12 and ATG5 conjugate and oligomerize with ATG16L to form an 800 kDa complex (Atg16L complex).
This complex mediates LC3 lipidation to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), serving as a key marker for autophagy.
ATG16L, together with ATG18 and ATG21, prevents premature cleavage of ATG8-PE by cysteine protease Atg4 until the autophagosome is complete.
