Target Information
SFPQ (also named PSF) encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and regulation of gene expression. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and repair.
Recent studies have identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau, showing nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may correlate with tau pathology, suggesting its significant role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD.
SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules in various cell types.
