Target Information
This gene encodes two proteins:
- SART1 protein expressed in the nucleus of proliferating cells
- SART1 protein expressed in the cytosol of epithelial cancers
The SART1 protein is translated by -1 frameshifting during posttranscriptional regulation; its full-length sequence is not published yet. Both proteins are involved in the regulation of proliferation and possess tumor-rejection antigens.
The SART1 antigen can induce HLA-A2402-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cancer patients and may be useful in specific immunotherapy or as a diagnostic tool for atopy. It is essential for recruitment of the tri-snRNP to the pre-spliceosome in spliceosome assembly.
