Dystrophin은 X 염색체 Xp21 위치에 존재하는 DMB/BMD 유전자의 427kDa 단백질 산물입니다. Western blotting과 immunohistochemistry는 근육 생검에서 Dystrophin 발현 이상을 검출하는 두 가지 표준적인 방법입니다. Dystrophin 이상은 DMD/BMD 환자의 100%에서 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 유전적 이상은 약 65%의 사례에서만 검출될 수 있습니다.
