Target Information
The SH3TC2 gene encodes a protein containing two N-terminal Src homology 3 (SH3) domains and ten tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) motifs. It belongs to a small gene family and is proposed to function as an adapter or docking molecule. Mutations in this gene cause autosomal recessive Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4C, a childhood-onset neurodegenerative disorder characterized by demyelination of motor and sensory neurons.
