The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

Cathepsins are papain family cysteine proteinases that represent a major component of the lysosomal proteolytic system. These enzymes generally contain a signal sequence, a propeptide, and a catalytically active mature region.
Cathepsin F has a long 251-amino-acid proregion containing a cystatin-like N-terminal domain, a flexible linker, and a C-terminal domain similar to cathepsin L-like enzymes. This cystatin-like domain shares structural similarities with cysteine protease inhibitors and includes elements important for inhibitory activity.
The CTSF gene encodes a 484-amino-acid protein with a 19-residue signal peptide and five potential N-glycosylation sites. Cathepsin F is thought to be targeted to the endosomal/lysosomal compartment via the mannose 6-phosphate receptor pathway. The gene is ubiquitously expressed and maps to chromosome 11q13, near the cathepsin W gene.
