By Western blot, the antibody detects a ~38 kDa protein (RecA) in E. coli samples.
PA1-4924 immunogen corresponds to recombinant RecA protein.
Target Information
E. coli RecA protein is a key enzyme in homologous recombination and recombinational repair.
Expression is induced by the SOS response caused by DNA damage.
RecA exhibits single-stranded DNA-dependent ATPase activity, DNA annealing activity, and forms D-loops and Holliday structures during homologous recombination.
It also promotes self-cleavage of the LexA repressor, lambda phage repressor, and UmuD protein through co-protease activity.
RecA binds to single and double-stranded DNA for nucleofilament formation and plays a central role in homologous recombination.
It is homologous to the eukaryotic Rad51 and Dmcl proteins.
