• Human CD14 shares 69.8% and 66.8% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat CD14, respectively.
• Reconstitute with 0.2 mL of distilled water to yield a concentration of 500 µg/mL.

Target Information

CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on the surface of mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and is released into serum as both secreted and enzymatically cleaved forms. CD14 binds lipopolysaccharide molecules in a reaction catalyzed by lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), an acute phase serum protein. The soluble sCD14 can discriminate slight structural differences between lipopolysaccharides and is important for neutralization of serum lipopolysaccharides by reconstituted lipoprotein particles. Additionally, CD14 binds apoptotic cells and influences allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform. Diseases associated with CD14 dysfunction include Mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
