Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Survivin only when phosphorylated at Thr48.
Target Information
Survivin (IAP4) is the smallest member of the Inhibitors of Apoptosis Protein (IAP) gene family.
IAPs are involved in multiple cellular functions such as:
- Cell signaling
- Cell division
- Metabolism
Survivin shows differential expression in nearly all human cancers but not in most normal tissues.
It contains a single baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) domain and lacks a C-terminal RING finger domain.
Expression is high during fetal development and in tumors, but low in adult tissues.
It is expressed in the G2/M phase of the cell cycle and associates with mitotic spindle microtubules, regulating apoptosis during mitosis.
Survivin is also expressed in brain tissues after traumatic injury, co-localized with NeuN and PCNA, suggesting a role in neural cell proliferation.
Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
