Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating the surface expression of the TCR complex. T cell activation involves CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, which have long cytoplasmic tails associated with signal transduction molecules. CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes but not on B or NK cells. It plays roles in T cell activation, survival, and proliferation. Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
