Product Specific Information
Reconstitute the lyophilized antibody with deionized water (or equivalent) to a final concentration of 0.5 mg/mL.
CHRNA7 (Also known as Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor alpha 7) is a major component of brain nicotinic receptors that are blocked by alpha-bungarotoxin. The nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are members of a superfamily of ligand-gated ion channels that mediate fast signal transmission at synapses.
CHRNA7 has a signal peptide, followed by an N-terminal extracellular domain, three membrane-spanning regions, an intracellular domain, a fourth transmembrane region, and an extracellular C-terminal tail.
The nicotinic acetylcholine receptor alpha-7 subunit is required for acetylcholine inhibition of macrophage TNF release and is essential for inhibiting cytokine synthesis via the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. Upregulation of CHRNA7 receptors may serve as a compensatory response to maintain basocortical cholinergic activity during disease progression or may interact with beta-amyloid in disease pathogenesis.
GenScript Rabbit Anti-CHRNA7 Polyclonal Antibody is developed in rabbit using a KLH-coupled synthetic peptide from the N-terminal extracellular domain of human CHRNA7 (Swiss Prot: P36544).
Target Information
Chromosome 15 encodes over 700 genes and comprises nearly 3% of the human genome. CHRFAM7A, a fusion protein comprised of FAM7A and AChR alpha7, is encoded by the CHRFAM7A gene located on a region of chromosome 15 associated with several neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder.
CHRFAM7A (also known as D-10 or CHRNA7) is a 412 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein belonging to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) subfamily of ligand-gated ion channel proteins, which mediate synaptic signal transmission. CHRFAM7A is expressed in the hippocampus, and alternative splicing of the CHRFAM7A gene produces two splice variants.
