Cerebral Protein 1은 eNoSC (energy-dependent nucleolar silencing) 복합체의 필수 구성요소로, 세포 내 에너지 상태에 따라 rDNA의 침묵화를 매개합니다. 이 복합체는 히스톤 변형 효소를 모집하여 작용하며, 포도당 결핍 시 NAD(+)/NADP(+) 비율 증가로 SIRT1이 활성화되어 H3 탈아세틸화 및 SUV39H1에 의한 H3K9me2 이중메틸화가 유도되어 rDNA 영역에 침묵 크로마틴이 형성됩니다. 복합체 내 RRP8은 H3K9me2에 결합하며, 메틸트랜스퍼레이스 역할을 할 것으로 추정됩니다.
