Also known as FLJ90524. Gene Map Locus: 17q23.3
Members of the STE-20 like kinase family stimulate MAPK pathways by directly activating MAPKKK. STRAD is a pseudokinase that binds LKB1 and regulates its tumor suppressor activities. It acts as an upstream activator of LKB1 and controls its subcellular localization by anchoring it in the cytoplasm. The STRAD-LKB1 interaction leads to phosphorylation of STRAD and enhanced autophosphorylation of LKB1.
