• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells but not in B or T cells. Expression is inducible by TNF and IL-1α. This cytokine binds to TNFRSF25 and decoy receptor TNFRSF21/DR6, activates NF-κB and MAP kinases, and acts as an autocrine factor to induce apoptosis in endothelial cells. It also inhibits endothelial cell proliferation and may function as an angiogenesis inhibitor. An additional isoform from an alternatively spliced transcript has been reported but not fully characterized.
