Target Information
Semaphorins are neuronal chemorepellants that direct pioneering neurons during nervous system development. CD100 (also known as semaphorin 4D), a 150 kDa homodimer, is a semaphorin that induces B cells to aggregate and enhances their viability in vitro. CD100 modifies CD40-CD40L B cell signaling by increasing B cell aggregation and survival while downregulating CD23 expression.
CD72 acts as a lymphocyte receptor for CD100 and regulates B cell signaling. CD100 is expressed on resting and PHA-stimulated T cells, weakly on NK cells, EBV-transformed B cells, monocytes, and tumor/peripheral blood T cell lines, and at higher density on activated T and B cells.
