Claudin 7은 클라우딘(Claudin) 계열의 막 단백질로, 세포 간 밀착연결(tight junction)의 주요 구성 요소입니다. 밀착연결은 상피 및 내피 세포층 사이에서 용질과 물이 자유롭게 통과하는 것을 방지하는 물리적 장벽 역할을 하며, 세포 극성 유지 및 신호 전달에도 중요한 역할을 합니다. Claudin 7은 다양한 악성 종양(유방암, 난소암, 간암, 요로종양, 전립선암, 폐암, 두경부암, 갑상선암 등)에서 발현 차이를 보이는 것으로 보고되었습니다. 또한, 다양한 스플라이스 변형체가 존재합니다.
