Target Information
Myosin binding protein C, cardiac-type (MYBPC3) is a thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle A bands. It binds MHC, F-actin, and native thin filaments in vitro, and modifies actin-activated myosin ATPase activity. MYBPC3 may modulate muscle contraction or play a structural role. Mutations in this gene are associated with cardiomyopathy (familial hypertrophic 4, dilated 1MM, or left ventricular non-compaction 10).
