• PA1-7201 detects adenovirus and does not cross-react with parainfluenza 1–3, Influenza A & B, RSV, hMPV, or Rhinovirus (type 16).
• Successfully used in immunofluorescence and ELISA procedures.

Target Information

Adenoviruses are DNA viruses widely distributed in nature and often cause acute upper respiratory tract infections.
49 human adenovirus serotypes are divided into six subgroups (A–E). They can cause respiratory illness, conjunctivitis, gastroenteritis, and occasionally sexually transmitted diseases.
Some types have oncogenic potential, though most cause self-limiting febrile illnesses. The virus can persist latently in tonsils/adenoids and may reactivate under immunosuppression (e.g., AIDS).
Adenovirus vectors, especially Ad5-based, are promising tools for gene therapy.
The capsid consists of three major proteins: hexon, penton, and fiber. The hexon protein is a major coat component (240 per particle) and forms homotrimers of complex proteins exceeding 900 residues.
