Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Isoform 1 functions as an extracellular chaperone that prevents aggregation of nonnative proteins and inhibits amyloid fibril formation by several aggregation-prone proteins. It maintains partially unfolded proteins for refolding by other chaperones and protects cells from apoptosis and complement-mediated cytolysis. Intracellular isoforms interact with ubiquitin and E3 ligase complexes, promoting proteasomal degradation of target proteins and modulating NF-κB transcriptional activity. Nuclear isoforms promote apoptosis, while mitochondrial isoforms suppress BAX-dependent cytochrome c release and inhibit apoptosis. Plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation.
