Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP or DDIT3) is a small nuclear protein that dimerizes with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. The resulting complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and promotes binding to stress-related non-classical C/EBP targets. Under normal conditions, CHOP expression is minimal, but it is strongly upregulated under cellular or ER stress, such as tunicamycin treatment, nutrient deprivation, or disruption of calcium flux across the ER membrane.
