Target Information

CD27 is a 50 kDa member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily that includes CD40 and CD30. Members of this superfamily regulate cell proliferation and death.
CD27 and its ligand CD70 are predominantly expressed in lymphocytes. CD27 expression increases upon antigen receptor ligation, while CD70 requires co-stimulatory or pro-inflammatory signals.
CD27 forms disulfide-linked homodimers on mature thymocytes, peripheral blood T cells, and a subset of B cells. Activation of T cells via the TCR-CD3 complex upregulates CD27 and releases its soluble form (sCD27), a prognostic marker for B cell malignancies.
CD27-binding protein (SIVA) is a proapoptotic protein interacting with CD27, playing a role in apoptosis. Diseases associated with CD27 dysfunction include Lymphoproliferative Syndrome 2 and Autosomal Recessive Lymphoproliferative Syndrome.
