Target Information
Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to DNA sequences upon activation by hormones.
Mineralocorticoids, secreted by the adrenal cortex, regulate metabolic and electrolyte processes via the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR). The kidney is a primary target organ for MR activity, and the corresponding gene for MR is NR3C2.
