Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, we recommend adding 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
To use this carrier-free antibody for conjugation experiments, it is recommended to perform an additional desalting step (Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Calpains are ubiquitous, well-conserved calcium-dependent cysteine proteases. They are heterodimers composed of an invariant small subunit and variable large subunits, with the large subunit containing a cysteine protease domain and both subunits having calcium-binding domains.
Calpains are implicated in neurodegenerative processes, as activation can be triggered by calcium influx and oxidative stress.
The CAPN9 gene is expressed mainly in the stomach and small intestine and may have specialized roles in the digestive tract. It is also thought to be associated with gastric cancer. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
