Target Information
CDK6 functions as a cell-cycle initiator protein. It is coexpressed and copurified with Cyclin D1, acting as a key regulator of cell cycle progression. CDK6, along with CDK4, is involved in the G1 to S phase transition. It plays a crucial role in cell proliferation within the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricles. Mutations in the CDK6 gene are associated with microcephaly 12, primary, autosomal recessive (MCPH12).
