PEP-0271 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20151.
Target Information
Adipose tissue plays a major role in regulating metabolism and immunity by producing bioactive molecules termed adipokines. One conserved family of adipokines is adiponectin/ACRP30 and its paralogs, the C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs) 1–7.
Unlike adiponectin, which is expressed exclusively by differentiated adipocytes, CTRPs are expressed in a wide variety of tissues and act mainly on liver and muscle to control glucose and lipid metabolism.
The crystal structure of adiponectin shows a structural and evolutionary link between TNF and C1q-containing proteins, suggesting a common ancestral innate immunity gene. Multiple isoforms of mouse CTRP4 have been reported.
