This antibody detects endogenous levels of MAP2 only when phosphorylated at Thr1616.
Target Information
MAP2 (Microtubule Associated Protein 2) exists in two high molecular weight forms (MAP2a & MAP2b) and a low molecular weight form. Its expression is developmentally regulated, arising by alternative splicing of a single gene. MAP2 participates in microtubule assembly, an essential process in neurogenesis. In rat and mouse, MAP2 is a neuron-specific cytoskeletal protein enriched in dendrites, contributing to dendritic shape stabilization during neuron development. MAP2 is useful for studying neuronal structure in normal and malignant brain tissue, as well as in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).
