Target Information
The GLI1 gene encodes a transcription factor belonging to the Kruppel family of zinc finger proteins. It is activated by the sonic hedgehog signaling cascade and regulates stem cell proliferation. Its activity and nuclear localization are negatively regulated by p53 in an inhibitory loop. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
