Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with porcine based on sequence homology.
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Following antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is breast carcinoma tissue.

Target Information

Estrogen Receptors (ER) are members of the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. The estrogen receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that, when bound to estrogen, undergoes a conformational change enabling dimerization and binding to estrogen response elements (ERE) in DNA.
When bound to EREs, ER can regulate gene transcription positively or negatively through coactivator or corepressor recruitment.

There are two forms of the estrogen receptor, alpha and beta, encoded by separate genes (ESR1 and ESR2).
At least four estrogen receptor-alpha isoforms are known (Isoform 1: 66 kDa, Isoform 2: 53 kDa, Isoform 3: 47 kDa, Isoform 4: 35 kDa).
Estrogen receptors are widely expressed across tissues, essential for sexual development and reproductive function, and also play roles in bone and other tissues.
They are implicated in pathological processes including breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and osteoporosis.
