Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Tau tubulin kinase 2 (TTBK2) is a serine/threonine kinase whose substrates include tau and tubulin proteins. Mutations in the TTBK2 gene cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 11 (SCA11), a neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive ataxia and cerebellar and brainstem atrophy. Elevated TTBK2 expression in kidney carcinoma and melanoma cell lines increases resistance to the chemotherapeutic agent Sunitinib, while siRNA-mediated reduction of TTBK2 sensitizes these cells to Sunitinib. Thus, TTBK2 may serve as a resistance marker and potential therapeutic target.
